Custom software · Charlotte, NC

Enterprise‑grade software for the small business.

I'm Riley Phillips. I design and build systems small businesses run on. From custom ERPs, to integrations, and purpose-built applications. I have a business background that keeps every line of code pointed at value.

What I build

Software that pays for itself.

Custom web applications

Quoting, orders, purchasing, inventory, production, scheduling, reporting — software shaped around the way your business actually runs, not the other way around. Real-time, cloud-based, and just as usable on a phone or a shop-floor tablet as at a desk.

  • Custom ERPs & operations systems
  • Dashboards & reporting suites
  • Desktop, tablet & mobile

Integrations & automation

Your systems should talk to each other. I connect the tools you already rely on so data is entered once and flows everywhere it needs to go — no re-keying, no copy-paste, no version-of-the-truth arguments.

  • QuickBooks & accounting sync
  • Google Workspace & CRM actions
  • UPS, FedEx & carrier APIs

Consulting & architecture

Not sure exactly what you need? I bring a business background and am able to talk to you to help understand pain points and needs so I can build a software tailored exactly to your business.

  • Process mapping & discovery
  • Build-vs-buy guidance
  • Modernizing legacy systems

Real systems, running real businesses.

Custom ERP · Small manufacturer, Charlotte, NC

From disconnected tools to one system that runs the shop

A small manufacturer was juggling separate, disconnected software for every part of the operation. I built them a custom ERP that handles quoting, customer orders, purchasing, inventory, production routing, live production boards, and shipping in one interconnected system — with real-time updates on desktop, tablet, and mobile.

QuickBooks integration sends orders and purchase orders and posts BOM-driven COGS adjustments automatically. Google integration emails quotes and drives CRM tasks and follow-ups. UPS and FedEx integrations run the shipping desk, and a fully tailored reporting suite gives management numbers they used to assemble by hand.

Time & contract logging · Anesthesiology practice

A paper process, made instant

Physician time logging ran on paper: forms changed hands several times, then the data was re-keyed manually. I replaced the whole chain with a cloud application where doctors submit their forms directly — with complex contract rules and hour calculations enforced by the app — and every submission is instantly available to the practice manager.

The manager now works from a full reporting suite with on-demand information instead of end-of-cycle number crunching, and a second form route handles CRNAs, including overtime and other pay options.

How we'll work

A process built around value, not billable hours.

  1. 01

    Understand the business

Before any code is written, I take the time to understand how work flows through your company today and to find where time and money are being lost. Then I present you with my solution.

  2. 02

    Get working software fast

A usable core in weeks, not a spec document in months. The manufacturer’s ERP was live and taking orders six weeks after kickoff.

  3. 03

    Refine with your team

Real users doing real work, on short feedback loops. The software bends to the business until it fits — not the other way around.

  4. 04

    Run it lean

Deployed on AWS and engineered so hosting stays in dollars a month, not thousands. Then I stick around to support and extend it.

About

Software with a business brain behind it.

I'm Riley Phillips, based in Charlotte, North Carolina. I work with small businesses across the USA. I've been writing software for years, but the difference to my solutions is the real world business background I bring.

I understand how to use software to solve a business problem in a way that provides value for a company. Every project starts with the process, the numbers, and what a fix is worth, and ends with a system your team actually uses.

I'm passionate about one thing in particular: small businesses deserve the same quality of tooling the big companies have. My job is delivering that quality at a price point that makes sense for a small company.
